ASP.NET is the latest version of ASP to be introduced by Microsoft. However, in this version it is part of a wider wider language scheme, with the .NET framework introduced across their other languages, for example VB6 is being replaced by a .NET version

Perhaps the most significant change to ASP is the creation of the code behind and the separation of the presentation of the web page from the code which is doing the work with the data. There is a greater use of compiled code.
