janet.PayPalDonate DotNetNuke module Using the Janet Systems janet.PayPalDonate DotNetNuke module we are able to add a PayPal donation button to our web page. When a visitor to our website clicks on this button, they are taken to a web page on the PayPal website where they can proceed with the donation transaction.

Adding the button to your website is really easy. Simply select the module from the list of available modules and assign it to the area on the page. There are a number of configurable options which will need to be set. You will need to create a seller (merchant) account with PayPal.

Having added the module to the website page you will need to edit the settings. The module does not use the payment settings to be found in the admin>Site Setings page. The settings for this module are accessed in the usual way, from the drop arrow menu for the module.

  • PayPal website: select your choice of PayPal webiste. Included is the PayPal sandbox website (www.sandbox.paypal.com) used by those with a PayPal developer account. Using this acccount you will be able to test the module, for free, without real money transactions being made.
  • Seller Account: the PayPal account name to be used.
  • Item Name: use this to identify the payments to your account.
  • Cancel URL: with this value we are able to set the website page to which a cancelled ransaction shall return. By placing this page below a hidden page you can present the returning viewer with an appropriate message.
  • Return URL: this value determines which website page the viewer should navigate to after the transaction has been completed. By placing this page below a hidden page you can present the returning viewer with an appropriate message.

PayPal Test Account

The module may be configured for testing using a PayPal developer account. This enables you to test the assignment of funds from a PayPal account into a merchant account. A simulation of the process mat be conducted. Further details about settings up a PayPal developer account may be found on the PayPal website: https://developer.paypal.com/
