There are 6 HTML tags for creating headings. These may be used to provide hierarchy in the web page, giving a title for each section of content. Shown below is the result of using these tags.
<h1>Top level heading</h1><h2>Top level heading</h2><h3>Top level heading</h3><h4>Top level heading</h4><h5>Top level heading</h5><h6>Top level heading</h6>
These tags range from <h1> to <h6>, decreasing in size and importance. Place the <h1></h1> tag pair around the main title for the web page, then use the other tags for the titles of a lesser importance.
These tags must be used as a pair, with <h1> </h1> wrapping the heading. Avoid mixing the tags in between each other. Not only is it bad coding, but the results can be unpredictable.
