Referencing a Javascript file in a module

Many DotNetNuke modules are available as private assemblies. This means that the module may be easily added to your website, by following a few simple steps. In this article we shall assume that this is how your module has been supplied. We shall also make the assumption that in order for the module to work only the one assembly is required, some more complicated modules may be supplied in more than one part. Further customisation may well be required. Of course, make sure that you read the instructions associated with the module you are going to install to ensure that there are no further requirements, specific to that module.

There are two stages to installing a module within a portal. Initially the module needs to be added to the list of module definitions, then added to the portal at the appropriate place.

To add the module to the list of module definitions:

1. Login with host permissions and navigate to the Modules tab under the host settings menu
2. Select the Module Definitions in the list of host pages.

3. Select Upload New Module from either the pop-up list to the left of the icon or from the bottom of the listing of the modules.
4. On the file manager page browse for the zip file containing the article manager, add it to the list and then upload it. We do not recommend installing more than one module at a time.

5. Review the install report and ensure that there are no errors reported.

To add the module to a portal page:

1. Login to the portal with the required permissins, typically this will be with an account having Administrator rights.
2. Navigate to the page where the new module is to be added.
3. From the drop down list select your new module and select your content area, probably ContentPane.

You have now installed and added your module for use. Make the necessary confiuration setting changes, according to the module.
